Never Give Up!

We don't have much time and we are getting kicked out, so I will make this quick. Deciding to serve a mission is one of the greatest decisions can make. Yes, things can be hard sometimes, but that doesn't mean that Heavenly Father has given up on you. All you need to do is try your best, but you don't have to run yourself ragged. :)

I love being a missionary. I love talking to people all day and just noticing them and loving them. When we take the time to care about others, we really just feel more love towards ourselves. There's something special about having the boldness to say hello to others.

Every person you meet is a Child of God. Every person you know needs that hope and that assurance in their lives. It's a not a matter of, if you come to know these things are true, but when you come to know these things are true. I know that missionary work isn't exclusive to just us missionaries, and anyone who thinks that is making it so hard for us serving full time. We need help from members, we need the support and sacrifice of time from those serving in the wards. We can't do it alone!

Don't ever be afraid to talk to someone. The worst they can do is ignore you, and at that point, they feel more uncomfortable when you do. Look into people's eyes when you talk to them, show them that you care. People need each other, we are not meant to be alone. We are meant to be cared for. And we can't only be cared for by other humans here on this earth. We need the light and the beacon that comes only through Jesus Christ. I'm not here to preach about Jesus to everyone, I'm here to witness that he is our Savior and our Redeemer and that the only way we can be truly happy is by learning from him and learning of him. That's why I have such an affection and faith that Poland, very soon, will come to a knowledge of who Christ truly is. They are so happy, and so friendly, and so loving now. Imagine how they will be once they are restored to a knowledge of who they truly are! These people deserve the truth, they deserve the comfort and they deserve the knowledge far more than anyone I have ever met. I love these people with my whole heart and I won't stop until each one of them understands how much more they can become!

These people are incredible. You look into their eyes and you know that there's an ever so thick veil keeping them from their full potential. It's not what saints in the states think at all. Europeans are not so settled and proud that they don't want the gospel. You see in their eyes that they're yearning and striving for that thing, but it's almost like they're afraid to find it. They are the friendliest people you could ever meet. Almost too friendly, they always say my Polish is so good when I know it's not! But they've been able to understand me and I can understand them so wzystko będzie dobrze!

Nothing like buckeyes! With Polish ingredients!

-Buckeyes-

-Ingredients

3 cups confectioners' sugar

1 cup creamy peanut butter

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

-Directions

-use ice cream scoop to dip

-close toothpick hole

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or using a handheld mixer, beat together the sugar, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla at medium speed. The dough should end up slightly crumbly. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet and stick a toothpick into each ball. Place in the freezer and chill for 1 hour.

3. In the top of a double boiler, or in a bowl snugly on top of a pan with a few inches of simmering water, melt the chocolate chips, stirring until smooth. Holding a ball by the toothpick and placing a fork under the ball to stabilize it, dip it into the hot chocolate, leaving a small hole of the peanut butter dough showing at the top of the ball as the "buckeye." Let the excess chocolate drip back into the pot. Return the buckeye to the baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining balls.

4. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. Remove the toothpicks before serving.

Dzień Matki, Piknik na Działce i Buckeyes!

Dzień dobry, Rodzina!!

What a wonderful time our district had to call loved ones on Mother's Day! I am so grateful for the mothers (and fathers) who have helped me become the Lord's missionary. Because of their influence, I now know that I am a child of Heavenly parents who love me and they have helped me realize how important it is to share this message with other people. Most of all I am grateful for my earthly family being on this mission has helped me to really appreciate them and how much they've been there for me, even if I didn't want to see it before.

I was making buckeyes for the district meeting and picnic and the chocolate just wouldn't stick to the peanut butter balls. It took a few tries, but I ended up getting the buckeyes covered in chocolate. When I took them out of the fridge to see if they had hardened, I realized that the chocolate was not quite hard (I had used chocolate bars that had a different consistency than the ones I bought earlier, so I had to use milk to make it smooth for melting). Every time I had found something wrong with the recipe, I had wanted to chuck the buckeyes in the trash and start over. "No one will want these, they don't look good." Almost the whole time I kept thinking this, the Spirit told me that everything would be okay and just continue working on what I could do to make things better, and you know what? The buckeyes were ok, they even went like hotcakes! What I thought was wrong with them wasn't even an issue to the people eating them.

Negative thoughts and grudges are what the Adversary wants us to think about ourselves and other people, but you know what? The father of all lies can only get into your head if you let him. One thing I try to do is that every time I think a negative thought, I immediately think of two positive thoughts. We can't control every circumstance in our lives, but we can certainly make the best of the situation and work to improve it!

We had a picnic on the branch's działka and it was such a fun time! Our district played sports and got to know the members and less-actives and investigators better! :D

Transfer Time! Dun, dun, dun!! I will be...

Staying in Łódź!! Spoko(sweet)! I love this city!!

We got to teach Institute because Starszy Kapela was out of town, so since we usually have Dominika with us, we decided to teach on Doctrine and Covenants 25. Well, low and behold, Dominika couldn't make it, but Romek (he's a dude) turned up and I got nervous because the section was about Emma, the wife of our first Prophet, Joseph Smith! We decided to ask Romek about how he respects the women in his life, and he  basically ended up teaching us! It was awesome!

This week, I want to talk about the blessings of the gospel. In my life there were trials that caused me to question my belief in the Savior, and in my depression, I turned away from Him, but I know now that He hasn't stopped speaking to us. The Holy Ghost serves as our conduit to Heavenly Father and if we just listen and ask Him in prayer, He will make us aware! Here is this scripture, it is in chapter 26 of Alma in the Book of Mormon and it is from a missionary (he's pretty rad!) named Ammon:

35 Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.

36 Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation, and my redemption from everlasting wo. Yea, blessed is the name of my God, who has been mindful of this people, who are a branch of the tree of Israel, and has been lost from its body in a strange land; yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land.

37 Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.

It will be two years and seven months since I was baptized into the Church, and they have been some of the hardest I've endured, but the Lord will never give us a trial we can't stand. I invite you to watch this video, it is called the Refiner's Fire:

1 Nephi 20:10:

10 For, behold, I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

To quote from a hymn that was played at my baptism, "I know that my redeemer lives."

It particularly touched me because my brother has always been there for me. I am grateful for his example and for the fact that the Gospel has helped me gain new siblings in Christ. :)

Smoki i Zameki

Dzień dobry, rodzina!!  10 points to whomever can guess the title of this email! :D What a wonderful week this has been!

2 Nephi 2:3 reads:

3 Wherefore, thy soul shall be blessed, and thou shalt dwell safely with thy brother, Nephi; and thy days shall be spent in the service of thy God. Wherefore, I know that thou art redeemed, because of the righteousness of thy Redeemer; for thou hast beheld that in the fulness of time he cometh to bring salvation unto men.

I realized this week that working hard as a missionary really isn't that different than paid work or school. You still gain skills as you consecrate yourself to the Lord's errand. On my plaque is the scripture 2 Corinthians 4:6:

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

If I could, I'd add the next verse:

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

As children of G-d and members of the church, we are called upon to lead and live the Lord's gospel by example, and one of the greatest opportunities of this life is to serve and help our brothers and sisters. For example, we were able to go to Ewa's działka raking leaves on Thursday and it was good, hard work!

I am grateful that the Lord shapes us both physically and spiritually to prepare for and endure the trials here on Earth, because if not for trials, how would we learn?

Moroni 9:6:

And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.

I am grateful for the experiences and people in my life who have shaped me into the person I am today, especially my parents who taught me the value of diligence. For those preparing to go on missions, keep on truckin'! It's all worth it, I promise!

Returned missionaries! Thank-you so, so much for everything!! I hope I can be as awesome as you one day!

Kocham was!!

Guess who tried Vegemite and liked it??

Hey everyone! Sorry I don't have much time to write this week, we had exchanges and I got to go to Warsaw with Siostra Grgich who is from Austrailia. She is very musical and her father emigrated from the Bosnian part of Yugoslavia. Today Siostra Slagowska and I are going to Find Out where you get locked in a room for 45 minutes and try to find a way to get out. I can't wait!

Funnies and Miracles:

Mon- M: General Conference with District
F: Naming kids- Elder Wride said he would name his daughter Joy

Tue: M:Visiting Israel Poznańskiego museum

Wed: M:Going to the Metro station because it reminds me of Space Mountain
F: Telling Starszy Cowley that he's the cat's pajamas

Thur: M: Exchange with Siostra Grgich
F: Trying Vegemite for the first time

Fri: M: Giving the Hooli (Hooligan- soccer fan) tissues
F: Getting Hooli blood on me AHHH

Sat: M:Skype lesson with Linda
F: Elders shaving their necks while talking to us on the phone O.o

Sun: M: Meeting Stanisław who has been to Utah and was friendly to us
F: Trying to figure out who the fourth Beatle is (John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, George ??? Embarrassing, I know!) and the Elders thought it was David Bowie! Haha, no Ziggy Stardust for them!

I love my mission! I just know with 100% certainty that if I stay on the Lord's side, I never need to fear. God will always take care of us and always provide for us. We always have reason to be strong and courageous. If we don't feel we have reason to be strong and courageous, then we need to get on our knees and pray. Because I can promise that after we pray for that courage and strength, we will feel it. Even when we thought we would never be able to. I love my mission, and I love the Gospel. There's so much happiness that is awaiting to greet us, we just have to do our part and find it.

Love you!!
